At Sunsail, we’re passionate about creating opportunities of diversity and inclusion in the sport of sailing and within the UK’s biggest sailing regattas. We are proud to partner with The Magenta Project – a leading UK women’s sailing chari­ty – to create an innovative sailing initiative designed to encourage more women to pursue sailing, compete in yacht racing and consider careers in the marine industry.

The Magenta Project, in partnership with Sunsail (Sunsail Magenta), encompasses sail training opportunities and events for women of all ages and experience levels. The initiative offers a unique track for women to learn how to sail, socialise with others who share in their same passion, and work towards experiencing the thrill and excitement of competitive yacht racing.

Sunsail Magenta Women Only Sailing Courses

RYA Sail Training

Whether you’re a complete novice or seasoned sailor, our women-only sailing courses are an empowering way to get out on the water and share an interest for sailing alongside other women of all ages. Under the instruction of a professional Sunsail female instructor, obtain the RYA Competent Crew, RYA Day Skipper or RYA Coastal Skipper qualifications.

Race Training

Eager to experience the thrill of yacht racing? Interested in leading a racing team at Cowes Week? Sunsail offers two-day Race Training courses which grant the perfect introduction to competitive sailing. Day one of the course covers racing essentials, from practicing starting strategies to executing spinnaker sailing. Day two transitions from training and theory to practical application realized in an actual race setting. Under the expert guidance of your Sunsail coach, students participate in Rounds 4 or 5 or our Sunsail Racing Series which takes place on the Solent.

Sunsail Magenta Racing Opportunities

Cowes Week

Taking place 30 July – 6  August, Cowes Week is the UK’s longest-running regatta and the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world, delivering seven days of high-calibre competition. During the first four days of Cowes Week, The Magenta Project’s Sunsail 41.0 is available for individuals and small groups to reserve spots onboard to race with Sunsail–the official sailing charter partner of the event. Space is limited, so early booking is advised.

Sunsail Racing Series

Registration for Round 4 and 5 of our popular Sunsail Racing Series is open to co-ed teams. Sailing teams that compete are eligible to qualify for the series final and claim the top podium spot. It’s a great opportunity for those who have undertaken race training and want to put their skills to the test in a thrilling event on the Solent.

The Magenta Project Regatta

We are delighted to announce that Sunsail and The Magenta Project have launched the Magenta Project Regatta to further support the mission and commitment of this incredible charity. Interested companies can register for the regatta with mixed gender or women-only teams for the opportunity to network and enjoy the thrill of competitive sailing, while raising funds for The Magenta Project.
