Youth sailing academy
Overview
Prometheus’ Youth Sailing Academy weeks are as popular with parents as they are with the teenagers themselves. Scheduled to coincide with school holidays, Prometheus’ Youth Sailing Academy weeks are a great mix of sailing instruction and other, fun activities designed to keep teenagers busy and entertained.
Youth Sailing Academy weeks are all-inclusive of food and soft drinks and are suitable for teenagers aged between 13 and 17. Non-sailing activities include canoeing, on shore games and beach barbecues. Over the course of the week, students can work towards their Duke of Edinburgh award.

What will you be doing?
Whether or not you have ever sailed before, you will be actively involved in every aspect of sailing the boat. That means hoisting and lowering sails, steering, getting involved in navigation, anchoring and cooking. Those on RYA courses will complete the appropriate syllabus learning new skills. Each yacht on the Youth Academy will have an RYA qualified Instructor and a mate, both are DBS (CRB) checked and have experience working with children.
During the week there may be the opportunity to take part in shore side activities such as beach games, BBQs and cinema outings, depending on the ages and interests of the crew members. Anyone under the age of 15 will need consent from the parent or guardian to watch a 12A certificate film.
Accommodation is on board for the duration of the course and is mixed, with boys and girls in separate cabins. Prometheus endeavours to allocate boats by age range, where possible.
