Funding the Future – Sailing and Yachts clubs
Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before entering the competition. By entering you indicate that you accept these terms and conditions and you agree to be bound by them.
- Promoter’s Details: Sunsail is a trading name of Mariner International Travel (UK) Limited (the “Promoter”). Registered office: Origin One | 108 High Street | Crawley | West Sussex | RH10 1BD. Registered in England No: 1239190.
- Eligibility: This competition is open to sailing and yacht clubs based and registered in the UK. Each Sailing Club must nominate a lead person who is responsible for submitting their competition entry and liaising with the Promoter with regards the competition. The lead person must be a member of that sailing / yacht club. The lead person must have the authority of the sailing club to enter this competition and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Employees and immediate family (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and life partners) of the Promoter or its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies are not eligible to enter this competition or be the lead person.
- How to Enter: To enter you will need to complete the online entry form. Either complete the form and upload directly from the competition page www.sunsail.co.uk/sailing-clubs/grants-and-funding, or post to Funding the Future, C/O Sunsail, DST House, St Marks Hill, Surbiton, KT6 4 BH. Both forms can be found at www.sunsail.co.uk/sailing-clubs/grants-and-funding. Only one entry is allowed per sailing club. No purchase necessary. No entries from agents or third parties or entries automatically generated by computer will be accepted. Incomplete or corrupted entries will not be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instruction.
- The content of Entry: You warrant and undertake that the proposal you submit is your own work and that you own the copyright for it and that it does not infringe the copyright of any third parties. Any complaints lodged against your writing in relation to permissions will result in it being removed from the competition. Any entry deemed to be inappropriate or offensive will not be published and will be removed. You agree that the Promoter may make some or all of your entry available on its website and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable license, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-license the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes
- Use of Data: All details provided by you will be held by the Promoter and used in accordance with these terms and conditions and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy available at https://www.sunsail.co.uk/choosing-sunsail/legals/privacy. By entering this competition you consent to the Promoter contacting you for advertising and marketing purposes. If you are the winner of the competition, you agree that the Promoter may use your sailing club name, image and town or county of base to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
- Dates: The competition commences on 14th September 2018 and closes on 28 February 2019. All entries must be received by 23:59GMT on 28 February 2019
- Receipt of Entries: The Promoter cannot be held responsible for network, computer or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your entry. The Promoter is not responsible for entries not received and/or any lost entries.
- Prize(s):
First Prize: There is one first prize of a grant to the maximum sum of £5,000 (inclusive of VAT) for the winner to use in implementing some or all of their ideas as per their competition submission. The Promoter will make payments up to an aggregate maximum of £5,000 subject to receipt of evidence, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Promoter, that the winner has spent such money in furtherance of its competition submission ideas. The Promoter is only able to pay valid VAT invoices which are addressed to Mariner International (UK) Limited at DST House, St Mark’s Hill, London, KT6 4BH and which are issued direct from the supplier, not the sailing club, to the Promoter. The winner must have claimed all £5,000 by 31st August 2019 after which the Promoter shall be liable for no further payments. The winner will also get 4 tickets to the London on the Water Boat Show to attend on Saturday 11 May 2019 provided they confirm their ability to attend by 18th February 2019. The winner may, at the discretion of the Promoter, be entitled to one nights Q&A session with Ian Walker MBE at their sailing club provided such is subject to availability of Ian Walker MBE and the sailing club must propose a selection of dates between 1 March 2019 and 31st August 2019. All elements of the prize are not transferable and no alternative will be offered.
Runner-up Prize There are two runner-up prizes which shall each include a grant up to the maximum sum of £2,000 (inclusive of VAT) for the runners-up to use in implementing some or all of their ideas as per their competition submission. The Promoter will make payments up to an aggregate maximum of £2,000 subject to receipt of evidence, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Promoter, that the runner-up has spent such money in furtherance of its competition submission ideas. The Promoter is only able to pay valid VAT invoices which are addressed to Mariner International (UK) Limited at DST House, St Mark’s Hill, London, KT6 4BH and which are issued direct from the supplier, not the sailing club, to the Promoter. Each runner-up must have claimed all £2,000 by 31st August 2019 after which the Promoter shall be liable for no further payments. Each runner-up shall also get 4 tickets to the London on the Water Boat Show to attend on 11 May 2019 provided they confirm their ability to attend by 18th February 2019. All elements of the prize are not transferable and no alternative will be offered. - Selection of winners: The winner(s) will be the entry judged to be the best of all entries received by the Promoter’s panel of judges.The decision of the judges nominated by the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
- Notification: The 3 finalists will be notified by email on Friday 8th March 2019 and the winner shall be announced at the London on the Water Boat Show to attend on 11 May 2019. The winner and each runner-up acknowledges and undertakes that it shall not announce, share or otherwise inform anyone else or let it become public knowledge that it has won until after 3 March 2018. A breach of this clause shall entitle the Promoter to withdraw the prize and select an alternative winner. If a finalist or runner-up cannot be contacted or is unable to accept their prize (including unable to attend the RYA Dinghy Show), the Promoter reserves the right to choose another finalist from eligible entries received.
- Winner(s) details: Details of the winner(s), name and country of residence, will be obtainable after the 11 March 201 by writing to Funding the Future, C/O Sunsail, DST House, St Marks Hill, Surbiton, KT6 4 BH. The winner(s) may be required to participate in post-competition publicity and, in addition to general publicity, agrees to do 1 blog post which references the Promoter (subject to the prior written approval of the Promoter) and a photo-shoot and promotional campaign to show how they have implemented the grant.
- General: Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected. The Promoter reserves the right to amend the competition in exceptional circumstances. All entrants agree to abide by these terms and conditions and the Promoter reserves the right to exclude entrants for any breach of these terms and conditions. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to. This competition is run in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

Each University Sailing Club must nominate a lead person who is responsible for submitting their competition entry and liaising with the Promoter with regards the competition. The lead person must be a member of that sailing/yacht club. The lead person must have the authority of the university sailing club to enter this competition and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. Employees and immediate family (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and life partners) of the Promoter or its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies are not eligible to enter this competition or be the lead person.
